Choosing the Controls for your Horizontal Blinds

The “control” is literally the mechanism by which you raise, lower and tilt your blinds. For most horizontal blinds, cords and wands together make up the controls.

Cord

The traditional way of raising and lowering horizontal blinds is with a cord. Simply pull the cord straight down to raise the blinds. When your blinds are in the desired position, give a slight jerk to the right to lock the blinds in place. With another quick, easy jerk to the left, you'll unlock your cord and your blinds will lower without any effort.

Some horizontal blinds offer a cord tilt control as well. In addition to raising/lowering the blinds, the cord tilts the blinds up to 180 degrees, allowing for maximum control over the light entering your room.

Wand Tilt

Most horizontal blinds use a wand for tilt control. The wand is a clear plastic stick which hangs from the headrail. Simply rotate right or left to tilt the blinds up or down. The wand tilt is an easy way to control how much light enters your room.
